Doremi Garden offers a mother and child class twice a month. Our school began
as a mothers' cooperative play group, so we know mothers are great teachers! We
would like mothers to be involved at our school, so we invite them to participate
with their children in this class in such activities as crafts, cooking, dancing
and story time, followed by lunch on the rooftop terrace.
Mothers are often anxious about their children, wondering, for example, “Is he
having fun at school?” “Does she express herself in class?” “What about toilet
training?” By joining in this class, mothers can see for themselves their child's
growth and participation in the classroom.
We observe and enjoy many international and Japanese celebrations. Moreover, our
program is filled with abundant excursions, such as to an aquarium, fire station,
petting zoo and parks for viewing cherry blossoms.
Every two months, we have Multicultural Day, on which we invite mothers to teach
us about culture in their home countries as well as local food and songs.
It is so exciting for children to invite their mothers to school! Mothers' attendance
makes their children feel happy and proud of their mommy. Our Mommy and Me Class
is something special!
Our computers have been set up with children in mind so they become familiar with
using a computer. In line with the digital age, parents can view video images
of their children in the classroom via their personal computers. To ensure privacy,
only parents of students attending Doremi Garden are entitled to an ID number
of our school's URL.
We believe social skills learned in a multi-age environment are very important.
In doing such daily life tasks as washing hands and brushing teeth in a group,
children can encourage and cooperate with each other. Children learn social rules
of friendship and understanding. In a multi-age environment, children of different
ages can learn from each other. Older children learn to be gentle and considerate
of younger children, while younger children learn respect and appreciate their
older friends. Children in multi-aged groups can solve problems together as well
as learn to be patient and express their feelings.

Cooking is so much fun! Not only do children love to eat what they have made but
through cooking, children learn how to use real utensils safely and properly.
We will inform you if your child develops symptoms at school and need to be picked
up.
In case of sudden illness, we will contact you first, and your child will be taken
to Dr. Shimizu, a pediatrician whose office is just two minutes away.
